We Registered for GST - What's Next?

After you receive your confirmation of your GST account from the CRA [Canada Revenue Agency], the next step is to start charging GST on your sales to customers. One of the requirements is to issue a sales invoice.

 

CRA requires certain details to be displayed on your sales invoice. Ideally, in order to remain compliant with the tax laws, your invoice must display :

 

1)  The name of your business or trading name

2)   The date of the invoice

3)   The business entity’s GST number [9 digits; RT suffix]

4)   The name of the customer

5)   Description of the goods and services

6)   The amount of the sale before GST

7)   The GST percentage and amount

8)   The final price including GST
